This page is a start point and informational page about ants on the island of San Salvador in the Bahamas. This page is part of a project that I am doing this summer ('04) for Tropical Marine Ecology of the Florida Keys, Everglades & Bahamas. A field-based summer workshop offered by Miami University's Geology Department.

On this site you will find background info about the ant fauna of San Salvador and my project. There is also some info about fire ants, which are of particular interest due to their invasive characteristics, impact on other biota, agriculture and even human health. Finally there is a collection of pictures of ant species that have been recorded on San Sal and links to identification info. Thanks for visiting. Feel free to e-mail me (slemmocr@muohio.edu) with questions or comments.
